Moving to Seattle is a great idea if you manage to find a decent apartment in Seattle. The city, named after the Native American tribal Chief of the same name, has a picturesque locale and a number of beautiful neighborhoods. Despite the rains, the life here is vibrant and wonderful. First, how would you find good Seattle Washington apartments?

1. Sit Down and Make a List – Decide what qualities you need in the Seattle apartments and what you would consider leaving out if a suitable option presents itself. You could even narrow down your neighborhoods based on this. For example, if you want space for less rent you may have to go for a place at some distance form downtown since downtown rents are high and apartments small. If you want great view Greenlake is good. For young and vibrant environment Capitol Hill is the best and so on. Parking is difficult in most places hence if you have a car include reserved parking as well.

2. Decide How Far You Are Willing to Pay – It is no use seeing suitable apartments in Seattle and then finding them far beyond your means. Hence decide how much you can afford before going apartment hunting. Include every type of bills in the budget including possible transportation costs. There are good neighborhoods like Ballard where rents are okay and accommodations decent.

3. If You Could, Checkout the Neighborhoods – Seattle has a number of wonderful neighborhoods and it is difficult to choose among them just on hearsay. It would give you better idea about the places if you could personally visit the neighborhoods. This way you would know whether you should settle for a Seattle apartment in West Seattle where you have all those beautiful parks and trails, or whether you should go for Seattle apartments near city center. You may also find some “for rent” signs and be able to strike a good deal that way.

4. Peruse Local Newspapers – Such as The Stranger, Seattle Times, Seattle Post Intelligencer etc. They will all contain Seattle apartments for rent ads. You could also go online and look around.

5. Take Help from Friends and Forums – If you know anyone in Seattle, take help from them in finding the best neighborhood for you. If not, you could also ask around in online forums dedicated to Seattle or to Seattle apartments for rent. You could try Flickr, one of the Social Networking Sites, or even Yahoo questions.
